Selected articleA cyclo-cross bicycle is a bicycle designed specially to handle the rigors of cyclo-cross racing, in which riders combine mountain bike cross-country, criterium, and road racing skills to navigate repeatedly a small course comprising pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills, and obstacles, the traversing of which requires a bicycle that a rider might dismount with celerity. Such bicycles are similar in form to those ridden by road cyclists but are characterized by a different general geometry and by thicker tires, used in order that the cycle might better survive muddy trails.
